DESCRIPTION

This session covers recent concepts and developments of supply chain analytics. In the first part, we present building blocks of analytics tools, and explore descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytics for supply chain applications and case studies in manufacturing, retail, and disruption management. In the second part, we demonstrate the use of a dashboard (Power BI) to create a simple descriptive analytics tool for a supply chain application.

Yossiri Adulyasak
Holder of the Canada Research Chair in Supply Chain Analytics and an associate professor at HEC Montréal HEC Montreal

Yossiri Adulyasak is the holder of the Canada Research Chair in Supply Chain Analytics and an associate professor at HEC Montréal. Prior to joining HEC, he was a postdoctoral associate at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and later a data scientist at a global supply chain solution company. His research has been published in top-tier journals and conferences in Operations Research (OR), Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). He is a co-inventor of five US patent applications in the areas of prescriptive analytics and supply chain analytics. Yossiri also serves as a scientific advisor on multiple industrial projects in collaboration with large Canadian companies.

Supply Chain Analytics - Forecasting and inventory optimization

This session covers the concepts of forecasting and inventory management. We first present commonly used forecasting and time-series models and demonstrate the use of Excel functionalities to create forecasts as well as key forecasting measures. We then present the methods for inventory optimization. Through numerical examples in Excel, we demonstrate how inventory replenishment and safety stock decisions can be made using demand and forecast data.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
  • These sessions are suitable for business or supply chain analysts and managers who want to learn basic analytics tools for supply chain applications. The participants should have basic knowledge in Excel. For Module 2, Excel 2016 or a more recent version is required.
  • Excel templates of the analyses and supplement files will also be provided to the participants.
  • CPD points: SCMPs will earn 3 CPD credits for completing 1 module and 6 CPD credits (code CE-2) for completing the series (modules 1 and 2). We kindly ask members to enter their activity independently following this course.
  • The presentation will be in French with the oportunity to ask questions in English and/ or French
